To Brain Can or not

Do Brain Cans really save lives, or is it merely fear mongering from retailers who want to sell you gear?

If your are like me, you like your brain.
I like protecting it from UV rays, from falling bricks and branches (yes, that does happen!), and from hitting it on very hard surfaces.
I realize Alberta legislation does not force humans over the age of 18 to wear a bike helmet, but really, why should we let legislation determine common sense?
Of course, like many things when it comes to "rules," this is a hot-button topic.
